Left, Right....March into the Military

Topic: Military Look
Feature Stores: Forever21

Just in time for Independence Day marches in strong jackets, bold stripes on fitted dresses and stellar metal decorative pieces. We stand to salute designers on their creative ability to make the military look one that has everyone running to the mall or gear shop. Look for these pieces to get your ready for basic training.

Keep it tight! Forming fitting means cleans lines and the illusion of length. A military jacket at the waist gives a conservative yet chic alternative to a blazer. Turn longer military dresses into open jackets with sleek pants or a basic tee.

Play on one color! The Military looks is composed of basic neutral colors such as black, grey, brown, navy and tan. Common embellishment come in gold, sliver, metal and in more romantic occasions gems and jewels. To work with these basic schemes choose one color to build your outfit around. For preppy, use going for stripes of red and white or blue. For romantic, play with pastels, for an edgier look, try lace with studs.

Try soft with edge! This look is not one that has to be taken a strongly, but quite the opposite. Try mixing jackets with pastel mini skirts, or lace tights. This gives the look a gentle but fierce approach. Look out for bubbled hem tops to compliment military trousers to create a girly outfit.

All in all the military look is one that can be played with just about any twist. Look to designers giving this trend a more minimalist feel this fall and winter. To keep your closet updated for when the chill begins try turtlenecks and deep rich camo-like colors. These will come in handy when you add military jackets, tops, and bottoms.
